Infineon advances Physical AI security against quantum-era threats with certified TPM solution for NVIDIA Jetson Thor

MUNICH, June 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX) (OTCQX: IFNNY) today announces the integration of its OPTIGA™ Trusted Platform Module (TPM) SLB 9672 with NVIDIA's Jetson Thor platform. The hardware-based security solution securely stores cryptographic keys and verifies system integrity at the chip level, establishing a certified, quantum-resilient root of trust for Physical AI systems. The integration strengthens the security foundation, enabling robots and autonomous systems to operate securely and reliably across their full lifecycle. As these systems move from controlled environments into factories and public spaces, the impact of a security failure extends beyond data loss to operational disruption and regulatory liability. For the robotics industry, the security architecture decisions made at design-in have lasting commercial and compliance implications.

The EU Cyber Resilience Act, EU AI Act, IEC 62443 for industrial systems, and sector-specific standards in healthcare and automotive environments are working towards the new requirements of demonstrable, auditable security at the hardware level, creating a compliance-driven demand signal that Infineon and NVIDIA are positioned to serve.

The OPTIGA TPM technology provides a physically isolated, FIPS and Common Criteria certified solution that is separate from the application processor. It delivers measured boot and remote attestation, allowing operators and regulators to cryptographically verify at any point in a system's operational life that its software stack is genuine and unmodified. It also provides hardware-protected storage for proprietary AI model keys, encrypted communications, and cryptographically signed over-the-air updates.

The OPTIGA TPM, the industry's first TPM protected by a post-quantum secured firmware update mechanism, is designed as a root of trust which is protected from being compromised as the cryptographic threat landscape evolves. Developers building Physical AI applications on NVIDIA's Jetson Thor platform can rely on the hardware security foundation established at the architecture stage and will remain protected against current and upcoming cryptographic threats on robot systems.

The roadmap to full post-quantum security is completed by Infineon's next-generation OPTIGA TPM, embedding algorithms including ML-KEM and ML-DSA, standardized by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 2024. Companies building on the current OPTIGA TPM today will be able to make an easy transition. For the robotics industry, this matters beyond technical readiness. Kanton Aargau verliert Wirtschaftsprojekt – Otelfingen punktet mit Bahnhof und Bestandsbauten

Der Standortentscheid ist gefallen: Hitachi Energy baut seinen neuen Schweizer Hauptsitz nicht in Wettingen AG, sondern in Otelfingen im Kanton Zürich. Der international tätige Technologiekonzern will auf einem Campus das bisher über zwölf Standorte verteilte Geschäft in der Schweiz konzentrieren und dort langfristig rund 3000 Arbeitsplätze ansiedeln. Bereits heute sichert das Unternehmen nach eigenen Angaben 1000 Stellen, zusätzlich sollen auf dem neuen Areal bis zu 2000 weitere Jobs entstehen.

Otelfingen setzt sich damit gegen die Aargauer Gemeinde Wettingen durch, die auf der «grünen Wiese» im Gebiet Tägerhardächer auf die Ansiedlung gehofft hatte. Statt eines kompletten Neubaus nutzt Hitachi in Otelfingen das ehemalige, teils unter Schutz stehende Jelmoli-Verteilzentrum sowie angrenzende Parzellen – insgesamt 11 Hektaren. Ausschlaggebend waren nach Angaben der Beteiligten unter anderem die bestehende S-Bahn-Haltestelle direkt beim Areal, die Möglichkeit einer etappierten Entwicklung des Projekts sowie die Risikoabwägung zwischen Umnutzung bestehender Bausubstanz und einem Neubau.

Für Otelfingen markiert der Entscheid einen Einschnitt von historischer Dimension: Die Gemeinde vergleicht die Ansiedlung der Energie-Sparte von Hitachi mit dem Zuzug von Jelmoli in den 1960er-Jahren. Der Campus soll zunächst mit rund 1600 Arbeitsplätzen starten und später auf bis zu 3000 ausgebaut werden. Hitachi Energy plant, bis 2030 die heutigen Standorte in Baden, Dättwil, Turgi-Untersiggenthal, Seon und Zürich-Altstetten in Otelfingen zu bündeln. Der Konzern bekräftigt, die Schweiz bleibe ein entscheidendes Zentrum für die Weiterentwicklung seiner Technologien.

Im Aargau überwiegen Enttäuschung und Sorge. Rund 1000 Arbeitsplätze gehen dem Kanton mit der Verlagerung verloren, wie die Standortförderung bestätigt. Wettingen hatte sich von dem Projekt nicht nur Impulse für das wirtschaftlich angeschlagene Gemeinwesen, sondern auch bis zu zweistellige Millionenerträge pro Jahr in der Gemeindekasse erhofft. Gleichzeitig war das Vorhaben politisch umstritten: Für den geplanten Campus hätte Landwirtschaftsland umzoned werden müssen, wogegen sich insbesondere die Nachbargemeinde Würenlos stellte und unter anderem steigende Immobilienpreise und mehr Verkehr befürchtete. Dass nun Otelfingen mit bestehender Infrastruktur und höherer Unternehmenssteuerbelastung den Zuschlag erhält, verschiebt das wirtschaftliche Gewicht in der Region Limmattal zugunsten des Kantons Zürich.
